FirstPhera: A comprehensive wedding helper

by Arun Prabhudesai on September 27, 2007

The times are changing!

Influence of Internet and technology is quite evident in our everyday life. We now live in a wired world where most of our communication as well as networking happens through internet.

Wedding is one of the most important event in most people’s lives, and in countries like India it is of gigantic proportions. I am sure most of you must have experienced a lengthy Indian marriage, some or the other time in your life, either your own or of someone close to you.

Aren’t there thousand things to plan and take care of? Especially for the parents of Brides and Grooms. Here is service that has launched recently to make their life easier – FirstPhera

I quite liked when I first visited this site. The design, look and feel of the site is well thought out and goes well with the service they offer. I gave it a try and was also quite amazed with the features it provided. I am normally quite critical and in most cases choose not to come out with reviews, but FirstPhera does its job quite well.

What does FirstPhera offer? (in their own words)

We want to preserve your wedding memories forever. Its arguably the most important event in your life and we want to help you cherish its memories forever. We want you to LIVE your wedding memories for years to come, show off your wedding website to your kids, grand kids and many many more generations to come…
2) We want to help you plan your wedding better. Good things don’t come easy, and a good wedding is really hard to pull off. With gazillion guests, events, rupees, flowers, cars, horses, clothes and more… to manage, we know how it is. We’ll strive make it easier for you. We’ll help you do it much faster, smarter and better.

Does FirstPhera really help?FirstPhera Available menus

From what I have seen, they surely make your life easier. FirstPhera helps you with creation of comprehensive Wedding site, termed as Wedsite, with readymade templates, “To Do lists”, Guest list and host of other features that people in wedding house will find quite useful. You can see a demo of wedsite here. The blogging feature is what I really liked, quite useful to keep all the guests updated on regular basis.

What I also found impressive was the user friendliness of the site. Even a novice could use this site without much of a problem.

If you are getting married in near future, you should really give FirstPhera a try. However, they are still in beta stage and not open publicly as yet.

Some Questions to FirstPhera?
  • How do you plan to compete matrimonydiary.com. They have similar features as well as a very good base of clients from its sister site Bharatmatrimony.
  • What is the source of revenue?
  • Although, FirstPhera has most of the features, an important feature of giving a free domain name along with Wedsite is missing. What are your plans for that?

If you cant wait to access FirstPhera, drop me a line. I will send you the invitation code.

Do Indians still predominantly have arranged marriages? Or is that starting to change?

Thats a good question Jim….Till a few years back, it was 90% arranged marriages, however things have changed drastically since last 6 to 8 years…My gut feel is, present generation has a ratio of 50 – 50…I may be a bit off…but thats what I feel…
Few years down the line concept of arranged marriages would not remain :).
The above is true only for Urban India. Interiors of India have yet to catch up with this phenomenon

Firstphera is all set to revolutionize the way weddings are done and delivered in India. And its here to stay bigtime; is what each beat of my heart says. Time and again we’ve cherished fathomless beautiful memories of our marriges and the elaborate ceremonies which we’ve so ardently planned for the same. We’ve cringed for those ecstatic moments to come back to us; but have little time and virtually no space on the internet to store them. Firstphera offers just that bit of exhilaration and excitement back into our lives. Its like a honeymoon again; witnessing all those bountiful hours and moments of marriage stored in our own marriage website via firstphera.com . Each time now when we feel the need to romance back in time for the best moments of our marraige; all we need to do is logon with few simple clicks onto firstphera–and the adventure would live forever in our hearts. Firstphera down the line and with times unfurling would soon be the “Orkut” of Indian marriage community. My very best wishes to it and its wonderful founders.

I like how you say Interiors of Indian and not Rural india!

While Matrimonydiary, which is sort of on the same tangent is a very 1999 sorta looking site, i havent gone on the site you are talking about, but the table of content looks richer than Matrimonydiary.

Hi there – thanks for the review…

To answer your questions –
1. We plan on differentiating ourselves on the quality of our product. We’ll continue to improve our user experience and hope that the end consumer will eventually choose a product that serves their need better

2. We do have decent plans in place, but i’d rather not discuss it here :)

3. We want to focus more on what the end consumer wants – and to that end we have many features such as RSVP, discussions and blog that are generally unavailable in other sites. If a personal domain name is something that the end consumer wants, we’ll be happy to offer it in future

Best

@Nikhil,
Thanks for dropping by and commenting. You have put across your point quite well – should I say poetically. Yes, FirstPhera is a strong product, I hope they do well…
@Mesmerized,
I tend to agree with you…somehow Matrimony diary does not give you that wedding site feel that FirstPhera gives…BTW..a lot of rural India is more liberal than urban India…so I normally use “interiors of India”…is that what you too think ?
@Vikas, Glad to see you here….
Let me first congratulate you on a good product you have built, I like it.
Thanks for the answers. Having your own domain name will add quite a bit of value to your product. A user gets more attached to a web property when he has his own domain name….
Think about it…
