Top 50 Government Engineering Colleges

by Arun Prabhudesai on August 18, 2007

The list of Top Government Engineering Colleges for 2007 is out !

Outlook India has recently come up with the updated rankings of top 50 Engineering colleges. As you know Top lists are my favorite and I had earlier published of 2006. This year Outlook has published two different lists – One Government and One private – unlike a mixed one like last time.

The methodology for rankings remain the same like last time. Here are the meaning of abbreviations.

  • IC: Intellectual Capital
  • PS: Pedagogic systems (the art or science of teaching; instructional methods)
  • II: Industry Interface
  • P: Placements
  • IF: Infrastructure and Facilities
  • T: Total

If you compare last years list and this years list, there are a few changes:
The Top 3 Colleges remain the same, however, Kanpur has taken the top spot this time pushing IIT Kharagpur in second place. Significantly, In , only one private college (BITS Pilani) was featured.

Here is the list of Top 50 Government Engineering Colleges of India:

,kanpur is 21??????????????NIT,Kozhikode is far better than a rank of 30.College of Engineering,Pune is not eligible for a 25th spot.
please dont MISGUILD STUDENTS.

Sir,
sorry I can’t agree , because IIITM GWALIOR is india’s only institute of its kind who is providing PHD,MTECh,MBA and also 5 years integreted(B.E+M.TECH). it is giving 100% placement in top companies like IBM,HP,YAHOO,AMDOCS,MICROSOFT etc since started in 1997.spreading on lush green campus of 160 acre(more than IIITA)and first institute which is providing PHd. in IT.It is equivalent to IIT’s&IIM’s.at least better than many NIT’s. so plz next time keep it in mind and visite this institute plz don’t miss guide inncent students.

Hi,
This is rubbish the ratings of premier institutes of andhra pradesh are lowin way down than those institutes who stand in front of them…eg. the jntu which is considered as the best in A.P next to NIT warangal is layin way down inspite of its tremendous placement record and the influence which it has over other institutes even the a.u and o.u are dismally placed the north indian institutes which donot stand against these are given better positions this is jus regional feelin!!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

22 amit suryavanshi January 17, 2008 at 9:56 am

Reply

all the above mentioned colleges are found here or there in differrent ranking sources but annamalai university is never seen in any other rankings except to this rankings. why? The college is very nice (I belong to this very college itself),so why not is it seen so often like the other ones in the list. Kindly focus on this college in your next similar edition.

Sir,U.C.E.Burla is the first&old premier institute of not only orissa but also of whole eastern India having placement & infrastructure not less than an IIT.Therefore I think it shoud be with in at least top 50,which is going to be an deemed university under UGC act/1956 having name Orissa Institute of Technology.

PEC, Punjab Engg College, Chandigarh, is detriorating like anything. Its only the name, rest infrastructure is very old, faculty is going retired, new faculty is not that good. System are not adhered to. Shouldn’t stand in this list. UIET Chandigarh is going UP instead

NIT silchar last year had placements of 300 % and this time 250%…highest placement of 12 lakhs..offered by ongc and some meachanical company i dont rem right now..avg placememt…5.5 lakhs…suck that!

how are u ranking NIT SILCHAR at 50. do u know about its recent placements or u just rank by fake.please do the survey by coming the college once . tnen kindly give the rank. i bet u it will not come at 50. it has the quality to be among top 25 government colleges. dont spoil the name of the NIT without visiting here. u r there to give true guidance of rank to different students not the fake rank as per ur wish ok.so better visit next time before giving rank to the NIT SILCHAR.
