Since arriving in US , I have relocated thrice and my home phone number has changed as many times. What is the first thing I do when I get a new number ?
I log on to and register my home number immediately. The spam telemarketing in US is very high. Sometimes you may get as many as 7-8 calls a day.
What this “no call registry” does is, to let the telemarketing companies know that the registered numbers are not supposed to be called for any of the telemarketing calls.

bankaro logo BanKaro : The no call registry of IndiaIn India, however, I don’t see much of telemarketers. But, again like in many other cases, with economy growing and people having more money to spent, It will not be long before India becomes the telemarketers paradise.

If you are few of those who like to get these calls, you don’t have to do anything. But, if you are like me and many others, head straight to . They play the same role that plays in US.

At least thats what I guess from their website. I actually went to their site to check the service, but alas, they are “invite only” service. So cannot write much about them.

Here is a presentation available on their website that talks more about them:

I actually like the domain name that they have got. It is a web2.0 style name, yet the meaning is closely linked to what they offer.

Ab Jise chahiye use ban karo !

Yes they should have something like that. These days hutch calls your cell phone creates a 3 second silence suspense and then plays different songs – You guessed it it was a telemarketing add for ringtones.

But i heard ( and im not sure how far it is true) that is a person registers their no under the ” no telemarketing call” and a telemarketer calls that no they get fined.

In US, not only can the telemarketer get fined or fired, but also the company itself can get sued by the person who has rec. the call. Normally the telemarketers are affiliated with companies, and they need to keep the Telemarketers record updated so not call goes to people who do not want.

Hi all. I am also very frustrated from all these telemarketing calls. These people call me anytime they want. Even my very good clients email me before calling. Its not the matter of only business ethics but also the privacy. I think this telemarketing is the illegal activity. Govt. has taken a good initiative called DNC, but I have been in US and this thing has not been useful for me at least. The catch is that the time I register for any online or off line service, I end up overriding the DNC. Lets see how does this behave in India.
About BanKaro, I must say that this a great initiative from the youngs folks of India. Its good that Indian youth is thinking innovatively.

    Hi,
thanks for ur participation in NDNC to make it success. The spread sheets desinged by you are somewhat confusing. So i started something.Who ever gets any more tele calls just enter those names in tht spread sheet and go to file and save , it automatically saves the numbers.
