Trak.in blog completed 3 months officially on August July31st 2007. Although, I wrote a few articles at end of April, the blog had officially launched on May 01, 2007.
How do I feel about it ?
Great absolutely great ! Infact, it could not have been better in some cases
It has been a learning experience for me and hopefully my readers have got some value out of this blog. Currently, there are more than 50 million blogs in blogosphere, but less than 1 million blogs are active and even lesser are updated regularly. In case of Trakin, it averaged about 1.5 posts per day and falls into the last category of regularly updated blogs.
I feel that I could have done much better and some of the posts published may not have been published if they were written today. However, every mistake has taught me and hopefully the quality has improved on this blog.
This blog has been receiving a quite a bit of traffic too. For some established bloggers, this may be a small number. However, considering the age of the blog it sure looks good. I was actually expecting a gradual rise in my blog traffic, but it seems Google has been kind to send in quite a bit of traffic my way. This is also one of the reasons that motivated me to keep updating the blog regularly.
Trakin received around 30,000 page views and 20,000 unique visitors in month of August July alone. (This does not include the Email and RSS Subscribers who read my posts through mail and Feed Readers)
These last few days the traffic has been constantly increasing and I expect August to touch the 50,000 pageviews mark.
One of the heartening statistic for me more than anything else is the average time that a user has spent on this blog. This is more than 6 minutes per visitor, which I think is excellent. Based on my understanding, 2-3 minutes per visitor is a very good rate.
Also, more than 90% users have been from Indian subcontinent or from Indians residing in US. I guess that was exactly the traffic I was targeting.
Here is how I recieved. the traffic from month of August. (Google Analytics Screen Shot)
Trak.in subscriber base currently stands at around 175, which I guess is not very big. But, the number is steadily increasing at an average of 4-5 subscribers a day.
The topics that I have written on this blog have been varied, but all of them related to Indian business directly or indirectly. Moving forward too, you will see variety of Indian Business topics covered here. However, I will be concentrating more on certain areas. The two areas that you will see me writing more frequently will be Indian internet and Start-up space. There are already a few blogs that write in this space. However, this is one area that is growing very fast and needs to have more coverage. It also helps that I have been in technology for nearly a decade having a profile that involves understanding application requirements and user experience.
Lately I have been receiving a few requests of doing reviews for Internet start-ups and Web2.0 companies. I plan to cover at least couple of reviews weekly. I will try and make them as neutral, unbiased and comprehensive as possible.
Another change that you will be seeing is the structure and design of this blog. I am working on a more user friendly blog design. You should see it coming up in next couple of weeks.
One areas that I am not too happy with are the number of comments. I have not seen too many comments on Trak.in, compared to the visitors I get and the time they spend here. I encourage feedback from all my visitors and subscribers, however, negative or positive it may be. I would like to hear what you would like to see on this blog and what should I do differently. In addition to this, to improve comments, I am planning to feature top commentators and also no “no-follow” linking policy, that will help the commentators get mileage due to commenting on Trakin.
I plan to do these kind of round-ups every 3 months to let visitors know the direction that Trak.in is taking.
So, if you are interested in what Trak.in has to offer, go ahead and subscribe to my RSS feed or get the buzz via email !. If you subscribe via email, you will get the new posts in your mailbox on daily basis.
Finally, A big thank you to thousands of visitors of this blog who have kept me motivated to go on.
Small Update: Changed August to July, A big typo :)

Aha!!!! Kudos Trakin …. great going .. and happy 3 months of addictive blogging :P
And regarding the comments, its a known fact that most people rather just read than comment. Also people who read through readers, have to make a special effort to jump on ur blog and comment.
Anyways – Hope to read More interesting stuff for the a while to come.
Thanks Mesmerized.
I appreciate your regular feedback and comments.
Incidentally , I touched the 200 mark subscribers today. The feedburner ticker shows 200, but it fluctuates on daily basis and may go down tomorrow.
