-1st time in India and 1st in the World. Reliance offers feature rich mobile handset at just Rs 777 (Less than $19)

-Reliance emerges as the 2nd largest marketer of mobile handsets in India.

In a move that could potentially take the telecom industry by storm, Reliance Communications today announced Classic range of feature rich handsets at prices starting from just Rs 777. While Classic 202 is available at Rs 777, Classic 204 & Classic 203 are available at Rs 844 ($20) and Rs 888 ($21) respectively. There are no further payments or installments for owning these handsets.

From the photos they look pretty good and for the price they look to be really a bargain.

Shukla – President, Personal Business- Reliance Communications said “Through our new Classic range of feature rich handsets, we are confident of extending the benefits of mobility to an entirely new segment of population in metros, small cities as well as rural hinterland of India. Now first time cellular subscribers in India can straightaway go for Reliance Classic handsets rather than buying a second hand phone”.

In a short span of time, Reliance Communications has emerged as the second largest marketing powerhouse for handsets. Reliance markets handsets through its 1500 strong exclusive Reliance Showrooms and over 3 lakh retailers serviced by nearly 2000 distributors. The total handset sales of Reliance now exceed that of the next 3 handset vendors in the country.

Reliance lowest offer of handsets at Rs777/- is not a surprise at all!! This is already available in U S since over 2 years. It is a surprise to those who are comparing with other brands available in the market. But whoever thought of the catch? It is the pre or post package that really hits! Once in, the customer starts paying for he/she has a prestige to guard— it is a temptation, to go for whether one wants it ,at all, or not …let-me-have- it-cheap you-know !! syndrome ..

Hi…
I was a regular user of reliance from long time some around 2001.But i disconnected it due to huge network problem and mis calculation of call pulse rate as well as call rates.Because i was using it only for STD calls and every month 1 was spending Rs-1500/- stil i was not getting complete satisfaction.Again i m going to take a reliance handset because of an offer on STD calls.i came to know that there is some offer like in Rs-496/- per month,STD unlimited talktime for reliance to reliance anywhere in India.please let me know the offer published by reliance is exact or not and for how many days it will remain. If this offer closes within a short period of time then what will I do after that.
please let me know ASAP.
Thanks & Regards,
Babula kumar patro.

i wonder what would be the rates of used reliance mobiles..
when they are purchasing a new one with life long validity at 777rs, the third hand sets might be available for 100rs, which is the price of any other SIM!!!

its more about selling connections which will give continues revenue in the form of calls, sms. People with not much interest in mobile (there are many many in India even now) may end up choosing Reliance connection because of the cheapest new cell phones.
I like this marketing strategy, it shows they have min how to earn money which is ok because you are in business to earn money not for social service!
