Yahoo Logo Getting Makeover!
It just over a year since Marissa Mayer took over the reigns as Yahoo CEO and what a difference she has made. Seems like the entire company is on a makeover spree!
Yahoo has acquired 20 internet companies of various sizes and shapes since October of last year. Marissa’s main focus has been acquiring the best talent that is available in market either direct or through acquisitions. They have also shut down many services that were not part of their future strategy to sharpen their focus.
Overall, Yahoo has constantly been in the news (mostly positive) over past 12 months. They have been talked about more in last 12 months than probably in 5 years before that. The only talks that happened previously was how Yahoo was going down. But that’s no more.
Experts, analysts and the employees inside Yahoo itself are now more hopeful about Yahoo’s future, which was not the case before Marissa’s arrival.
While the structure and composition of Yahoo is changing drastically inside, looks like they want to go the full stretch. According to the post published on their blog, Yahoo is now reinventing their logo as well and doing away with the old one, which was iconic to say the least!
Kathy Savitt, CMO at Yahoo! says in the announcement,
“Over the past year, there’s been a renewed sense of purpose and progress at Yahoo!, and we want everything we do to reflect this spirit of innovation. While the company is rapidly evolving, our logo — the essence of our brand — should too.”
The logo revamp will happen over the period of 1 month, at the end of which the new Yahoo logo will be unveiled. Yahoo! is calling it “30 days of change”, where they will variations of logo on Yahoo’s main US homepage.
Some parts of Yahoo’s iconic logo will remain exclamation point and of famous yodel associated with Yahoo. The color too will remain purple.
Yahoo has released a video, that offers a glimpse of their Logo Change!
On a personal level, I really think Yahoo now has a real chance of getting back to it’s former glory… What do you think?
