The launch of Nissan Sunny sedan is scheduled on September 20, 2011. The automaker seems to have made a wake-up call towards the C-segment sedan category; looking at the success of Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta. Even Toyota recently launched sedan Etios in India, but in diesel version.
The Nissan’s upcoming starting range sedan will be equipped with a 1.5 litre DOHC 16 valve engine, 99 bhp and 134 Nm petrol engine with a five speed manual transmission for all variants. Nissan already has its Sunny sedan running in the popularity charts across the globe.
Nissan Motors logged in sales of 1384 units in August. Interestingly, its hatchback Micra contributed a lion share of its sales with 1345 units in the earlier month. The Sunny sedan is likely to prices competitively at around Rs.7-8 lakhs for its base variant.
