Honda Brio is the latest launch by Honda SIEL to enthuse small car segment buyers in India. In a bid to arrest its dwindling sales, the Indian JV Honda Siel Cars Limited is all set to roll out its latest offering in India’s crowded hatchback segment.
The 1.2-litre advanced i-VTEC engine-powered Brio car will be priced at Rs.3.95 lakh onwards in India to be pitted against popular models of Hyundai’s i10 and recently launched Etios Liva, in the similar four-wheeler category.
On the eve of Brio’s launch, president of Honda Siel Cars Ltd said:
“We have been able to launch the Brio at a competitive price due to our efforts to control costs, maximize production efficiencies and minimize impact of currency fluctuations, and we have achieved this through higher localization.”
Honda Motors of Japan operates in India with its dwindling brand values of Jazz, City, Civic and Accord. However, for Brio the Indian JV has worked on localization aspect to remain competitive in the price-sensitive Indian automobile market. But, a big negative where Honda cars have jerked is its lack of presence in the cost effective diesel-variants of car, post recent hike in petrol charges in India.
