Yammer Expands Executive Team To Lead Next Phase Of Growth
Seasoned Enterprise Software Leaders Bolster Engineering, Sales & Marketing

San Francisco, CA February 9, 2010 — Yammer, Inc., the leader in Enterprise Microblogging and Real-time Communications, today announced key additions to its executive team. In the wake of raising $10 million in Series B financing, Yammer is strengthening its engineering, sales, and marketing leadership in order to drive the next phase of its rapid growth.
Engineering: Adam Pisoni, the companys co-founder and vice president of technology, is promoted to CTO. Pisoni and the engineering team that he built developed Yammers award-winning real-time communication platform, which has spread to more than 60,000 companies and organizations in a mere 17 months. Before working at Yammer, Pisoni served in senior engineering roles at Geni and Shopzilla. Prior to that, he co-founded and was CTO at Cnation. We believed that employees were not properly aware of what their co-workers were doing, and we set out to remedy this situation and facilitate much more effective collaboration, said Pisoni. I am pleased with the rapid adoption of our real-time communication solution and am excited for this next phase in our growth.
Sales: David Satterwhite, a dynamic executive with over 20 years of enterprise software experience, joins as executive vice president of sales. Satterwhite has a proven track record of building and scaling worldwide sales team in both software-as-a-service (SaaS) and on-premise models. He began his career as a top sales performer at Oracle and then held multiple leadership roles at Clarify, where he helped build a $250 million public company. Satterwhite went on to lead worldwide sales at NightFire Software, @Road, and newScale. My belief is that many business execution issues emanate from ineffective communication, said Satterwhite. I am thrilled to join a company that is revolutionizing the way people communicate within organizations. Yammer has a strong sales team, and I am excited about taking it to the next level.
Marketing: Steve Apfelberg, a seasoned technology executive, joins as vice president of marketing. Apfelberg has over 17 years of enterprise software experience and has a deep background in defining software categories, launching products, and creating awareness and demand. Prior to Yammer, he served as the senior vice president of marketing and business development at Callidus Software. Earlier, he held senior roles at Siebel, Remedy, and Oracle. What SaaS did to on-premise software several years ago in terms of the next generation of software, Yammer and our freemium model is now doing to SaaS, said Apfelberg. We have democratized software by empowering any employee in a company to choose what software they want to use rather than having to rely on IT and procurement. Yammer fills the gaps in communication where email and IM fall short, and I am pleased to lead marketing as we alter and improve the way people communicate.
