Obama grants first pardon to Thanksgiving turkey

The president spoke of his familys Thanksgiving plans Wednesday as he pardoned a turkey gifted to him by the National Turkey Federation.

Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) President Barack Obama embraced tradition Wednesday and pardoned a turkey gifted to him by the National Turkey Federation. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama excused the turkey from being Thanksgiving dinner as he accepted the bird given the name Courage.

Obama is quoted by the AP as stating of changing his mind about eating the traditional presidential offering, Thanks to the interventions of Malia and Sasha because I was planning to eat this sucker Courage will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate.

Obama is further quoted as stating of his holiday plans, Just like millions of other families across America, well take time to give our thanks for many blessings Well also remember this is a time when so many members of our American family are hurting.
