National Wind Solutions, Inc. (PinkSheets:NWND) announced today the acquisition of a biodiesel plant in Atascosa County, Texas for $3 million dollars. This plant successfully produced biodiesel for commercial transportation uses before being mothballed due to high soybean oil prices.
NWND expects to modernize the plant to reduce processing costs and to retrofit the plant to process less expensive feed stocks such as algae and Jatropha. Currently, nearly 70% of oil used in the United States is imported. Congress indicated strong support for the development of renewable, green fuels in America.
Biodiesel can be produced from non-food plants such as algae and Jatropha.
