Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate a construction site where a worker was electrocuted when his crane boom hit power lines.

Las Cruces, NMA construction worker was injured when the crane he was operating hit a high voltage power line, electrocuting him. The workplace accident happened on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the construction site of the new Otero Federal Credit Union building at 10th Street and Cuba Avenue around 3:45 p.m., as reported by Alamogordo Daily News.

The Alamogordo Department of Public Safety (ADPS) reported that Moises Rios, a Sol Contractor employee was reportedly electrocuted when Rios tried to back away from the crane truck. American Medical Response teams treated Rios at the scene and then rushed him to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center for further treatment by doctors and nurses. Rios is reportedly in stable condition at this time. Officials reported that the damage was only present on crane truck, where a fire was ignited then quickly extinguished by ADPS firefighters. Sol Contractors of El Paso was reportedly the subcontractor at the construction site where the workplace accident took place. Investigators from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to conduct a full investigation into the incident. Traffic was detoured for about 30 minutes while crews removed the cranes boom from the cable.
