Garland police shoot and kill a man after a chase in Dallas. Garland, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) A 27 year-old man was shot and killed by Garland police Friday after an extensive chase. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the man led police on a chase from Garland to North Oak Cliff before crashing his vehicle and attempting to flee on foot, prior to the shooting. As noted in the report, officers reportedly stated Antonio Alonzo showed a handgun before being shot by Garland police. The chase purportedly began after Alonzo sped off while an officer was attempting to make a traffic stop. As further noted by the Dallas Morning News, Alonzo died at the scene of the shooting in Winnetka Heights. Police are reportedly investigating the incident, and there is also an ongoing internal affairs investigation regarding the shooting.
