Indian Government is spending thousands of crores to ensure that Aadhar card reach Indian masses. In addition, many perks have also been announced for people who apply for Aadhar card, including free smartphones for poor!

So are people really making a a beeline to procure Aadhar cards?

While the appointments seem to be always full at the centres where Aadhar Cards are applied, in reality very few have got Aadhar cards in their hands.

Trak.in conducted a sample poll over last month to find how many people actually had Aadhar cards and the ones who did not have, what is the reason for not getting one… Here are the results.

Aadhar Card Poll Results

The Poll got around 2400 responses over past one month, and 470 respondents (around 19 percent) had already procured and got their Aadhar card. 350 (15 percent) of respondents had applied for it.

Aadhar Card Stats

Conclusion

Although, the sample size of this poll was very small, the responses came from nearly every state of India and results could be a rough representation of Aadhar card procurement, primarily from online urban users.

According to Wikipedia Aadhar page, around 274  million Indians (about 22.69%) have been issued Aadhar cards so far, which is very near to what our poll suggests as well. From the poll we can infer that nearly equal number of people don’t even know where to apply for an Aadhar card or are not getting an appointment.

One thing is for sure, Government needs to do a lot to create awareness amongst citizen, at the same time need to create infrastructure to make sure that citizens are able to apply for Aadhar card smoothly without any issues!
